What was the company?
Battersea & Nine Elms Estates provides a one stop service for clients looking to buy, sell, rent, or let a property in the Battersea and Nine Elms area. The agency is dedicated, passionate and works hard to achieve positive results for all their clients. Their experience and involvement in the property market varies from dealing with ex local properties to newly built penthouses that cost over 10 million pounds.
What was the situation?
April Gunn, Principal Consultant – AST Property Management, was assigned the task to find a property manager with 5 years’ experience and to be ARLA qualified. It was like finding a needle in a haystack; however, April used her experience to find the right candidate for the client although they didn’t meet the initial profile brief. The successful candidate had less experience, but April knew they were the correct cultural fit; it turned out that the client loved them!
Were there any challenges?
One challenge imposed was the ideal candidate profile which made the search restricted at points. Another challenge imposed was the market conditions, the search was conducted during the pandemic, a time where many people did not wish to leave their job because of stability, security and general lack of confidence.
What was the methodology?
Part of the search process was getting to know the company on a deeper level especially due to the somewhat negative market conditions. It was necessary to have a thorough understanding of the company and communicate clearly with the right candidates throughout the entire assignment.
April used LinkedIn recruiter and created bespoke projects to find a shortlist of appropriate candidates. The second search project was carried out and placed within 2 weeks, which was set and agreed between the hiring manager and April.
What was the outcome?
April was able to successfully fill the role, not only this, but one candidate was so happy with the employment that they provided a referred candidate who was then screened, interviewed by a client and placed all within the same day.
