What was the situation?
Craig Douglas, Principal Consultant for Land and Planning, was instructed by CTP to source a Senior Project Controller to manage projects, procurement and buildings. This was a newly created role as the business needed an experienced professional to oversee and manage key functions. The successful candidate needed to review all projects which would, in return, create more revenue for the business and drive shareholder growth.
Were there any challenges?
The main challenge was the location of the role, which was based in Prague. This meant that not only did the candidate need to have experience on a commercial or construction basis but also needed to know project controls, how property is built, and be willing to relocate to Prague.
What methodology was used?
To obtain the retained search, Craig used deverellsmith’s data and research function as well as utilising his extensive network. This included mapping over 300 people in the market and paid advertising through job boards such as LinkedIn. This gave Craig the ability to carry out a screening process of 16 candidates which was then shortlisted to 5 and then put forward to the hiring manager.
What were the results?
After a deadline of 2 months, Craig was able to successfully fulfil the clients’ needs. Not only did Craig meet the expectations of the client with finding one candidate but exceeded those expectations with 2 candidates being placed.
