Our building surveying roles are broadly categorised by their qualifications, either MRICS (Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors), APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) and MCIOB (Member of The Chartered Institute of Building). Our private sector surveying roles will mainly be within commercial or privately owned residential property. Some of these clients will include consultancies, developers, pension funds/banks and Landed Estates. Our public sector and non for profit roles will often be within registered providers, education/healthcare institutions, heritage, charities or local authorities.
Most building surveying roles have an element of professional and contract admin / project management work, and some will heavily focus on more specialist areas within Neighbourly Matters, such as party wall and rights of light. Rights of light and party wall surveyors, need not be qualified or have a building surveying degree. Often successful candidates come from a non-cognate field such as architecture, legal or any analytical background. So we are always happy to talk to candidates interested in working within the industry, who perhaps don’t come from the typical MRICS pathway.
