Job description

If you are looking for a company that will provide you with the platform and autonomy to help drive business growth from a systems and accounting perspective, this is the role for you. This hybrid role is working on behalf of a leading, private sector service provider, delivering fire and electrical compliance services to large Housing Associations and Local Authorities in London and the South-East.

Based in Essex, the company has experienced significant growth over recent years and has been able to maintain the feeling and environment of a non-corporate SME business, despite being acquired by a Private Equity house in 2021. The senior leadership team is passionate about investing in staff development and as a result have always provided the best level of services to their clients.

This role is broad in its nature. In the first 6 months it will be heavily systems-focused as the new system is implemented. The role will then transition into a hybrid of Management Accountant / Systems super-user. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the implementation of a new IT system, BigChange, working closely with the finance and operational teams
  • Train new and existing staff to maximise the impact of the new system on the business.
  • Assist in ensuring IT is at the forefront of the business growth
  • Utilising the system to deliver key financial and management accounting information
  • Support the Financial Controller to develop annual budgets and forecasts
  • Review weekly cashflow forecasts, identifying any potential issues
  • Business partner with key stakeholders within finance and operations to ensure systems are driving efficiency
  • Liaise with auditors to provide best-level of information and reconciliation

Due the breadth of the role, the company is seeking an individual with a passion for systems improvement and the ability to assist the commercial operations. They are seeking someone who ideally has the following skills and experience:

  • Ability to work within a small but high performing team, driving business growth
  • Systems knowledge, including implementations and upgrades. BigChange experience is a bonus but not a necessity
  • A willingness and ability to share IT and Excel knowledge to support and coach those who are less tech-savvy
  • Track record of building relationships with key stakeholders across the business
  • Finance background would be preferable but not absolute essential
  • Strong Excel skills (VBA / macros not required)
