Are you a Residential Paralegal looking for something new and challenging?

I am working with a client on a Customer Service Manager position where you will be working for a regulated equity release company who own and manage several properties. Their customers have sold all or part of the interest in their homes in exchange for a cash lump and rights to reside in the property for the remainder of their natural lives. When property becomes vacant, it is sold to third parties.

The position would involve:

  • Deal with incoming customer queries from elderly and bereaved customers
  • Liaising with and overseeing external legal advisors
  • Ensuring the company takes possession of property as soon as possible after reversion.
  • Using IT systems to update progression reports and maintain good record keeping.
  • Ensure smooth handover to surveyor to manage disposal.
  • Manage portfolio data
  • Regular meetings to update Directors on company matters.
  • To maintain and adhere to company policies in respect of Health & Safety, Data Protection, Anti-money laundering and any relevant external regulatory bodies.
  • Issue annual plan statements to customers and any other required information.
  • Provide holiday/absence cover for other members of staff within the company and assume responsibility for their duties.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Come from the Financial Services sector and / or have legal experience in residential property matters.
  • Self-motivated, literate and numerate individual with a committed attitude towards providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with elderly and bereaved customers.
  • Ability to understand and explain in simple terms legal documents including equity release plans, title plans and trust deeds.
  • Ability to deal with customers with mental capacity issues including powers of attorney and deputy orders.
  • Pragmatic approach to minimise legal fees and achieve goals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team.
  • Microsoft office skills.

This position is based near Liverpool Street and could be part-time or full time for the right candidate and it will pay up to £50,000 ish per annum (pro rata if part time).
