Do you want to work for one of the largest self-storage companies in Europe?

I have been retained by Shurgard self-storage to recruit their new Land & Development manager. Shurgard is a big believer in flexible working and having a work-life balance which allows the successful candidate to work remotely full time. You will be responsible for the London patch where you will be acquiring and delivering sites. The role is paying up to £100k + £7,800 car allowance + bonus + benefits.

The role

  • Identify and conceptualise new opportunities for self-storage facilities and opportunities for redevelopment throughout our existing portfolio of properties
  • Perform feasibility studies including partner alliances to ensure the success of new markets including legal, local, government regulations and business setup process
  • Manage the entitlement process through the various governmental bodies
  • Prepare financial feasibilities to justify investment decisions
  • Lead negotiations with both internal and external constituencies
  • Be the team leader for the design, entitlement and construction teams throughout the project
  • Prioritise, plan and coordinate project development activities according to customer requirements
  • Supervise development team on daily basis to execute assigned projects within deadlines and budget
  • Assess potential risks and technical challenges and develop appropriate mitigation plans
  • Perform competitor analysis and new industrial & retail site locations negotiations

 What you need

  • Real estate degree or similar through experience
  • MRICS preference but not essential
  • Five to ten years in an acquisition’s role in either of the following, industrial, retail, residential development and commercial
  • Project management skills exhibited in managing numerous projects simultaneously toward timely completion
  • Translates the company strategy or a given strategic direction to the team
