A Researcher is able to run the research process of an assignment supporting a Fee Earner (Recruitment Consultant) and other team members. A detailed briefing meeting is required which may include being present at the client meeting or might just be an internal briefing between the Researcher and Fee Earner.
The start of the search involves building a target list of companies, identification of potential candidates using the company database and various internet searches and tools to form a market map of potential candidates. This is followed by approaching the most relevant people by phone and email. It also includes networking with industry specialists to “source” them for ideas and gain market intelligence.
All this information needs to be accurately recorded on the company database and put into regular client reports to update them on progress.
Communication within the team is key and regular updates are vital.
In detail the process includes:
Assist where necessary with pre pitch preparation including market insight and competitor analysis
Work with the Fee Earner to create a research strategy
Identify target companies and competitors within the sector and other potentially relevant sectors, think creatively on where the candidates might come from
Use intelligence gathering methods such as sourcing, internet searches, press searches and network internally to gain ideas
Be aware of any business development opportunities that might result from your networking
Strive to deliver diversity in all its forms, aim to create a broad and interesting array of candidates
Approach candidates with honesty and integrity
Compile client ready update reports
Communicate progress with team members and ensure the process sticks to the timetable
Share your learnings with fellow team members
As a Researcher you will be working on multiple assignments at any one time, so time management is vital
Excellent communication skills
You will have first rate written and verbal communication skills and be capable of building lasting relationships with stakeholders at all level
You consistently go above and beyond what is expected
Owning a “growth mindset” and it isn’t that you don’t know the answer it’s that you don’t know it yet…
You possess strong time management and a methodical approach to getting things done
Please note, you must be happy in a phone based position as this role involves speaking to candidates on a daily basis.
