About the opportunity

A specialist property management company is seeking a Client Accountant to join their New Business and Technical Team. This role offers qualified accountants the chance to move from practice into an industry position, managing the financial operations of large residential and commercial developments across the UK.

You'll take ownership of a varied portfolio, preparing year-end accounts, managing commercial estate finances, and working collaboratively with Estate Management and Business Development teams. The position provides genuine autonomy whilst being supported by a structured environment with clear processes and development pathways.

No prior real estate experience is required - your foundation in accruals, prepayments, and month-end processes provides the perfect springboard into this sector.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare year-end service charge accounts and submit to external accountants for review
• Produce monthly/quarterly management reports, analysing expenditure, arrears, and cashflow positions
• Manage commercial estate finances including accounts preparation, budget issuance, and VAT returns
• Monitor CHP billing processes and reconcile utilities recharge funds
• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and corporation tax administration
• Prepare and load annual service charge budgets with correct apportionments
• Reconcile opening balances for estates transferred from other agents or developers
• Support Estate Managers with client enquiries via telephone and email

Requirements

• AAT qualified
• 2+ years of accounts experience, ideally from practice
• Strong experience with accruals, prepayments, and month-end duties
• Excellent numeracy and analytical skills with competency in financial information
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office programmes
• Strong communication skills for written and verbal presentation
• Meticulous attention to detail with common-sense approach to problem-solving
• Legally entitled to work in the UK
