Deverell Smith has been instructed by one of London’s largest housing associations to help them find someone with a strong strategic background to join them at a senior level within the sales and marketing team.

The client is exceptionally well known in the Residential Development industry and currently going through rapid growth. They have a vast portfolio covering both London and the Home Counties which consists of both private and affordable housing. They are keen to bring on a Head of Sales that will focus on the sales strategy to work in conjunction with the current team. This person will be managing the Market Research team and have the overall responsibility of ensuring the wider team are performing to achieve set goals and growth plans.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with planning, development and technical teams to ensure developments are optimised and strategy requirements are understood prior to launch
  • Working within the Senior Management team offering guidance the Sales and Marketing function as well as working closely with all other departments
  • Keeping on top of what the competition are doing and ensuring the client is fully informed of up to date market intelligence to ensure correct decisions are being made prior site launch and during the sales period
  • Helping the team understand the importance of a smooth customer journey
  • Oversee the delivery of marketing suites the sales and marketing strategies across the new build sales programme
  • Ensure key changes are implemented into current and future strategies to enable better sales rates to be achieved and enhance overall sales performance
  • Using your market knowledge and facts from the research team review designs, layouts, specifications, phasing and overall development plans to ensure product in enhanced to remain competitive
  • Be aware of market changes and act as an advisor on this for relevant departments
  • Lead and motivate your team to ensure best results are achieved at all times
  • Help build a strong, results orientated culture within the department
  • Build and manage supplier relationships – sit on the panel when such companies are pitching to work with the client
  • Lead and manage projects
  • Ensure effective and strong internal relationships and built

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have a strategic background within the Residential Development industry
  • Have experience devising and implementing sales strategies
  • Be experienced in scheme optimisation and pricing
  • Have a background within the private or affordable housing sector
  • Have previous experience at a senior level where you have had to report to board level, have managed and led a team
  • Have the ability to work with other departments and be a strategic thinking with the ‘bigger picture’ at the front of your mind when making decisions
  • Have conducted market research on the residential development industry and have a sound understanding of the industry to ensure you can advise accordingly for future developments
