Based in East London we are working with an established and growing property developer looking for a Management Accountant to join their current finance team working under the leadership of a fully-qualified Financial Controller and Finance Director. If you are looking for a business that offers a balance between larger corporate security and growing start-up culture then this could very well be the perfect role for you. They are a medium-sized finance team, in which this role sits squarely in the middle, meaning you will be able to learn from more senior members of the team and also act as a mentor the more junior staff within the department.
Something that sets the apart from most other developers is their blend of investment in both private and affordable housing, with profits from the private sector of their business being used to help fund the social housing projects. In addition to this, they also have a Private Rented Sector arm, an asset class which is growing rapidly in popularity and promises to be a valuable asset to the business moving forward.
What to expect from the role? How will it vary from a traditional management accounting position?
Due to the nature of the business, our client is able to offer a broad and varied roles that differs most management accounting positions we have seen. Aside from traditional management accounting you will also have an involvement in systems, service charge as well as acting a finance business partner, liaising with senior leaders across the company to ensure continued collaboration across all departments. This role is well suited to a candidate who enjoys variety in their work and wants to be a integral part of the success of the wider business success in the years to come.
You will also be involved in providing variance analysis to support the wider business to ensure projects are on-budget and your reporting will be used to provide valuable insights to business leaders within the organisation. The Finance Director is keen to recruit somebody who is able and willing to take on more a growing level of responsibility within the business to support the financial controller, providing progression and variety over the coming years.

What skills and experience do I need to be considered for this position?
Due to the varied nature of the role, the client is not expecting candidates to have had exposure in every aspect of the job previously. However, they are looking for somebody from either a service charge or management accounting background within the real estate sector. The hiring manager would ideally like to appoint a fully-qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) although is happy to consider candidates who are part-qualified or finalists. Study support is offered for candidates who do wish to complete their accounting qualifications in this role.
In order to be considered for this position you must be able to demonstrate a track record of business partnering and being a strong team player, working closely with teams within and outside of finance to help achieve wider business objectives in a collaborative manner.
When do I need to apply by and what will the interview process consist of?
Our client is looking to recruit for this role as soon as possible, so the closing date for applications is the 26th February 2021. The interview process will consist of two stages, the first will be a competency based interview with the Financial Controller and Finance Director, whilst the second interview will include a short presentation in order to demonstrate your business partnering skills given that is a crucial part of the role. Following that stage the client will make a decision and appoint the chosen candidate.
