Our client is a successful Project Management consultancy in London. Due to their success and popularity with current clients, they are looking to now offer employers agent services. At the moment they undertake PM assignments primarily for developers but also for occupiers. They see benefit in keeping CA and PM separate allowing the CA to focus on the administration of the contract rather than the plethora of tasks that the PM needs to chase to conclusion.

Keeping them separate also means they can develop an expert CA service that covers a number of projects where currently they hand over to the QS. This does not mean dislocated and separated from the PM team. It means functionally discreet allowing real focus on the contract and contractor performance but working closely with the PM on each project.

With a CA on board they would see and hear all that the PM is doing and would assist the PM/guide the PM in the prioritisation of the closure of outstanding matters which impact the contract but which are not the responsibility of the contractor ( scaffold licenses from third party land owners, leases for substations, party wall awards to be delivered on a phased basis, Client choices on design development for provisional sums etc)

Therefore this is not a dry, remote functionary role. It is an expert role in the development of a contract bundle, working with lawyers to agree contract amendments, advising on the interpretation of the contract where matters arise but always supported by the construction lawyer and PM.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years PQE
  • Strong experience in building consultancy services
  • Strong contract administration experience
  • Ability to eventually bring in new business to the company
  • Strong management experience
