Job description

Our client is a fast-moving BTR business backed by a PE fund/family office. They are a UK-wide investor, developer, operator and asset manager, with an operational portfolio of over 600 units, and a secured pipeline of over 2,500 new apartments.

They are targeting a portfolio of 5,000 units worth £1bn+ over the next 5 years. This will be done through direct development, joint ventures and forward commitments.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the country's most innovative and prolific BTR companies. With a fully integrated structure, the team comprises some of the industry's leading experts who are delivering projects from acquisition, planning and design, through procurement and development to marketing, leasing and operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Asset Management Support: Support the day-to-day asset management of operational and development portfolios; analyse financial & operational performance vs business plan; recommend and implement actions and initiatives to optimise IRR, net operating income and valuation of the assets; develop collaborative and trusting relationships with key stakeholders, incl. debt provider and valuers;
  • Reporting & data: prepare internal and external reports including analysis of key metrics and management commentary for investors and the management team; work with third-parties to deliver data analysis capabilities
  • Sustainability: work towards ESG objectives for Operations team; lead on preparing submissions for industry accreditations such as GRESB and BREEAM
  • Budgeting: prepare annual budget, including presentations to investors, and take responsibility for identifying drivers of significant variances on a monthly and quarterly basis, as well as potential opportunities and risks, working with Property Managers and other team members
  • Supplier management: negotiate contracts with third-party providers/suppliers, build relationships, monitor KPIs, manage payments and provide input on corrective action as required
  • Commercial portfolio: support asset management of small standalone portfolio
  • Industry insight: monitor relevant industry news sources, understand trends, propose, agree and implement action to improve the performance of the portfolio

About you:

  • Relevant university degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification preferable
  • 1 - 3 years experience in real estate analysis
  • Strong analytical and strategic mindset
  • Ability to prioritise and meet multiple deadlines
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Excel and its data and analytical functions
  • Experience preparing and presenting financial reporting
  • Strong understanding of legislation and real estate investment concepts
  • Confident, pro-active with a good work ethic and a team player
  • Experience in investment modelling
