Job Title: Assistant Service Charge Accountant
Salary: £30k - £35k
Location: SW London / Surrey boarder - Office Based

Summary:

We are representing one of SW London's most well respected, independent property management firms. Operating for close to 100 years, they have an excellent reputation in the area and now employ around 25 people.

They're looking for someone to join their client accounting team to assist with the day to day duties, including service charge, VAT & general accounting. You will have an excellent team around you, to help support and train you up.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Charge Accounting

  • Preparation of Annual Budgets
  • Issuing of Demands
  • Raising Management Fees
  • Preparation of Year End (Y E) Reports
  • Dealing with accountant`s queries relating to Y E Reports
  • Balancing Y E reports and Accountants Certified Accounts
  • Closing down of Y E Accounts

Landlord VAT Returns

  • Preparation of Quarterly VAT returns
  • VAT adjustment re Residential Properties
  • Producing VAT returns and issuing them to clients
  • Dealing with client VAT queries

Non-Resident Landlord (NRL) Tax Returns

  • Preparing quarterly NRL Tax Returns
  • Producing quarterly NRL Tax return, and paying NRL tax to the Inland Revenue
  • Preparing the annual NRL Return
  • Producing the NRL annual return and sending this to the Inland Revenue
  • Producing NRL6 Statements and issuing these to NRL Landlords

General Accounting

  • Dealing with general accounting issues on behalf of Block and Commercial Managers
  • Dealing with client and tenant accounting issues on Block and Commercial properties
  • Assisting with Bank Reconciliations
  • Dealing with the Bank regarding opening of new accounts, and closing ceased accounts
  • Dealing with online banking issues
  • Dealing with Joint Agents re AST clients and payment of Invoices
  • Assist with general sales enquiries and transfers in respect of leasehold flats
  • Assist with acting a Company Secretary for clients where SPCL have been appointed

  • Assist in completing Company Accounts where we are acting on behalf the client

The ideal candidate will live in the SW London or Surrey area, and be able to commute to the office 5 days per week. You will have a couple of years experience within a finance role, in real estate and ideally a residential property management company.
