Our client is open to an experienced freelancer who can hit the ground running and start ASAP. Paying £400-£500 per day depending on experience and start.

Job Summary:

As an Estimator, you will play a vital role in the project planning and execution process. You will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs and resources required for projects, ensuring that proposals align with the clients' needs and budgets. The Estimator will work closely with project management, to develop competitive bids and proposals while maintaining a strong focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and relevant documentation to gain a comprehensive understanding of project requirements and scope.

  2. Cost Estimation: Utilise industry knowledge and experience to accurately estimate project costs, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.

  3. Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive bids and proposals, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company objectives.

  4. Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Source and evaluate vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors, obtaining competitive quotes and negotiating favourable terms to maximise project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  5. Cost Optimisation: Identify opportunities to optimise costs without compromising on the quality and standards of the project.

  6. Collaboration: Work closely with the project management and sales teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the estimation process.

  7. Project Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of all estimates, bids, and supporting documents.

  8. Client Interaction: Engage with clients to clarify project details, answer questions, and address concerns during the estimation phase.

  9. Industry Trends: Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and best practices to enhance the accuracy and competitiveness of project estimates.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, with a strong track record of successfully delivering accurate and competitive estimates.

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in construction estimation software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong skills with an eye for detail, ensuring precise estimates and proposals.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with clients, team members, and vendors.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify potential challenges and offer viable solutions to ensure project success.

  • Time Management: Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Team Player: Collaborative, flexible, and willing to contribute to a positive team environment.
