Job description
As the Head of Building Surveying in a commercial development company in London with a salary of £85,000, your role would involve managing and overseeing the building surveying department's operations and providing expertise in the development and maintenance of commercial properties.
Your responsibilities includes:
Team Management: Leading a team of building surveyors and support staff, assigning tasks, and monitoring their performance to ensure efficient project delivery.
Project Management: Overseeing the planning, design, and construction of commercial development projects, including refurbishments, renovations, and new builds.
Building Inspections: Conducting thorough inspections of existing properties to assess their condition, identify any defects or maintenance issues, and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
Diligence: Managing dilapidation surveys to assess tenants' obligations and negotiating settlements. Conducting due diligence assessments for property acquisitions or disposals.
Budgeting and Cost Control: Preparing and managing budgets for building surveying projects, monitoring expenses, and ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality standards.
Building Regulations Compliance: Ensuring that all projects comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and health and safety standards.
Client Relations: Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding their requirements, and providing professional advice and guidance to meet their objectives.
Contract Administration: Overseeing contract administration, including tendering processes, contract preparation, and management of contractors and consultants.
Sustainability and Energy Efficiency: Promoting sustainable building practices and incorporating energy-efficient solutions into projects to minimise environmental impact and reduce operating costs.
