Welcome to #ANewLeaseOfLife, a sub-series of the devcast…podcast, where you’ll be learning how experts of the build to rent and alternative investment sectors have climbed the ladder of their professional careers..
Hosted by Nick Hammond, Head of Build to Rent at deverellsmith.
Single family homes have become a hot topic recently and are set to receive a large amount of property investment in the near future. But the concept isn’t new, we’ve had single family homes in in the private rental sector historically. Today we’re joined by a veteran in the sector, Richard Berridge, to help address some unanswered questions.
A property professional, Richard has been involved in residential agency, development and investment for nearly 40 years. Since 2000, he has concentrated on the investment and development sectors; primarily in London and the South East, but also regionally. He became involved in the BTR sector prior to the publication of Sir Adrian Montague’s ‘Review of barriers to institutional investment into the PRS’ in 2012, and has worked in management, investment and development for a number of companies either as consultant or full time. Well known as a speaker and writer, Richard authored ‘Understanding Build to Rent’ for Cubex Land and Fiera Real Estate in 2019. Once described as a “60yo enfant terrible”, a label he does nothing to discourage, he is noted for his outspoken views and contrarian approach. Currently, Richard is Head of Strategy & Enterprise at Howsy.com
