Banking on the Future: Full panel announced for the Autumn 2023 event

T​he much-anticipated Autumn installment of our event series, Banking on the Future, in partnership with none other than the Bank of England is set to return this November. 

This time we’re heading to The May Fair Hotel Theatre and welcoming one familiar and three new panel guests to the discussion. You can register for the event here and learn more about our panel below.

Robert Elder, Senior Economist at Bank of England

Rob is no stranger to the Banking on the Future series and has been an admirable guest speaker at all 7 events. He brings enthusiasm, knowledge, and character to his presentation and points.

Rob joined the Bank of England in 1998, and for twelve years supported the Monetary Policy Committee as an economist and then senior manager.  Between 2010 and 2012 he represented the UK on the board of the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC. When he returned he worked in the Bank’s press office, and most recently, supported their Financial Policy Committee by running a team monitoring developments in the UK banking sector.

Why you want to hear from them: He’s an expert economist who will communicate the Bank’s perspective on the current state of the economy and predictions for the months ahead.

Ryan Prince, CEO of Realstar

Prior to joining Realstar in 2002 and establishing its UK operation, Ryan co-founded iGabriel, an early-stage venture capital firm investing in European business. 

Since Realstar’s UK inception, the company has acquired and developed over £3B of assets, including a portfolio of 73 Holiday Inn hotels comprising of 13,000 rooms, over 4,000 rental residential and student accommodation assets and a national portfolio of primary healthcare centres. 

Most recently the company has created UNCLE - a new kind of rental housing brand. Rated #1 on Trust Pilot in the UK, UNCLE's mission is to offer 'renting as it should be'. From a standing start in 2017, UNCLE now has 11 locations open and under construction in London, Leeds and Manchester and through its joint venture with QuadReal, is seeking to at least double in size of the next 3-5 years.

Why you want to hear from them: Ryan's passion for the Build to Rent sector and his business is evident. With a portfolio of over 2,000 units under his belt, he speaks from a position of authority. He's unafraid to be provocative and always offers an authentic, unbiased perspective.

Jennet Siebrits, Head of Research at CBRE

Jennet is an Executive Director at CBRE. She is an economist with over twenty years of experience. Jen joined CBRE 18 years ago to set up the residential research team. She is currently head of UK research, with a focus on the big issues in the real estate world; identifying trends, analysing the market, and providing clients with unrivaled insight and ideas. Jen regularly produces bespoke reports for clients that help inform their strategic decision-making process.
She is the author of numerous articles and regularly represents CBRE at conferences and in the media

Why you want to hear from them: She has an impressive track record as a housing market-focused economist having held positions at the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) and Nationwide Building Society. Her ability to dissect the intricacies of the real estate market, identify emerging trends, and analyse critical issues sets her apart. 

David Partridge, Former CEO & Chairman of Related Argent 

David joined deverellsmith back in April to celebrate World Earth Day for a podcast episode. We loved what he had to say so much, we asked him to join us for the Autumn edition of Banking on the Future. You can listen to the podcast here and find out more about his experience below.

David joined Argent in 1990, he was appointed Joint Chief Executive in 2006 and Managing Partner of the new Argent LLP in 2012 and became Senior Partner in 2019. He is now Chairman of the Related Argent Partnership.

David is currently a Trustee of the UKGBC and of the Landaid Charity and Chairman of the Governance Board of the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard. He also sits on the Advisory Boards of Construct Zero and Standard Gas Technologies Ltd.

Why you want to hear from them: David is passionate about sustainability and is on a mission to reduce the impact of real estate and the built environment on climate change. His knowledge as a leader within property and real estate will provide valuable insights on how to navigate through challenging times and seek opportunities.
