Capital&Centric

Now hiring an Operations Manager for the Eyewitness Works Development, Sheffield.

About Capital&Centric

We’re a team that loves creating awesome spaces. We dream up ways to turn unloved land and buildings into brilliant new places. We love great architecture, offbeat design and everything we build is super energy efficient. We’re award-winning and have collected over 20 awards for design, regeneration and social impact in the past couple of years alone.

In the last 10 years, we’ve completed over 2,000,000 sq ft of development and we spend over £3m a week on regeneration. We’re busy cracking on with over £500m of development across commercial, residential, hotel and leisure sectors. It’s an exciting time for Capital&Centric as we set to launch our social impact-led BtR platform, kicking off with Eyewitness Works in Sheffield.

The Eyewitness Works.

Eyewitness Works comprises 97 new design-led homes across three buildings, including a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments and townhouses. The development is made up of two Grade II listed buildings dating back to the 1850s: Eyewitness Works and Ceylon Works, plus a six-storey new-build called Brunswick.

Eyewitness Works is the star of The Big Interiors Battle, a brand-new interior design show on Channel 4 at 8 pm on Fridays. Room by room, eight talented interior designers transform empty apartments into their dream homes as they battle for a life-changing prize - their very own mortgage-free Eyewitness Works apartment - one of the biggest prizes in telly!

About the role.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven Operations Manager to mobilise our new Build to Rent (BtR) platform. The role will have an initial focus on the platform's first operational asset, the Eyewitness Works in Sheffield.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on a leadership role as they develop their skills and expertise, and further projects reach practical completion, presenting the opportunity for the role to develop into a Portfolio Operations Manager.

Putting places on the map.

Capital&Centric is not satisfied with blending into the background. We want local authorities and communities to be proud of what we do and shout about it. That’s why the team actively sets out to put developments and the surrounding communities on the map.

Consistently, Capital&Centric’s diverse and inclusive communities feature in national media ‘best places to live’ guides, with our developments often seen as an anchor in the renaissance of a town or up-and-coming area. The team plays a catalytic role in transforming forgotten and unloved areas into the talk of the town and front and centre in the national spotlight.

Watch the video below to see what we are really about.

We live and breathe social impact.

We believe in creating sustainable change, not just in the communities we create, but in the way we give back.

In 2019, we co-founded Embassy, a repurposed tour bus offering homeless people shelter and support. Now, we’re creating Embassy Village, a pioneering approach that gives vulnerable people their own front door and much-needed wrap-around support and training to get back on their feet and break the cycle of homelessness.

We set up our Regeneration Brainery mentoring programme in 2017 to inspire young people from disadvantaged and diverse backgrounds, so the places we create are better, richer and more reflective of the society we live in.

Our bootcamps inspire young people to find a career in the industry while rubbing shoulders with industry big hitters, visiting local regeneration schemes and learning vital skills to help them succeed. Each Brainee becomes part of our grad club, where they can benefit from mentor matchmaking and work placements. What started as a passion project has blossomed into a major force in the industry – over 5,000 students across 7 major cities, and over 500 industry mentors are now actively involved.

We’re a team that loves creating awesome spaces.

Capital&Centric was founded by Tim Heatley and Adam Higgins in 2011, who shared a vision of a new breed of developer. The team has now grown to over 20, covering development, finance, asset management, sales, marketing and design.

We take team bonding to the next level with annual trips abroad and regular days out. You’ll get 20 days of annual leave, and the office shuts for around two weeks at Christmas.

We champion indie makers and artists.

Every community has their own unique little quirks, and that’s really what makes the fabric of a place. We give a platform to local independents, hosting all sorts from steampunk expos where art meets science, charity art battles, street art festivals, pop-up cinemas, taproom residencies, and loads more.

In Sheffield, over 12,000 people filed through the doors of the historic Eyewitness Works to witness Mausoleum of the Giants, a one-off show of giant sculptures by world-renowned muralist Phlegm.

We bring life back into derelict buildings and abandoned land long before we start building. And we don’t move after we’ve laid the last brick… that’s when we really get to work.
