This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially astute QS who enjoys owning their workstreams, influencing outcomes, and supporting operational teams in a fast-paced environment.

The role sits within a Reactive Repairs and Minor Works setting and offers genuine scope to lead, mentor, and make a measurable impact on cost control and value generation.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take full ownership of assigned projects and workstreams, ensuring robust financial and contractual management throughout. You'll work closely with operational colleagues, subcontractors, and suppliers to deliver best value while protecting the organisation's commercial interests.

You'll also have line management responsibility for up to three Quantity Surveyors, with support from a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full commercial and contractual management of projects and workstreams

  • Ensuring appropriate contracts are in place and costs are accurately forecast and controlled

  • Managing subcontractor and supplier relationships to achieve best value

  • Providing mitigation strategies for contractual and commercial risks

  • Supporting operational teams with commercial advice and challenge

  • Identifying, securing, and recording cost savings

  • Managing budgets using forensic cost control techniques

  • Handling cost reconciliation and reporting for allocated workstreams

  • Managing underperformance where necessary

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally within repairs, maintenance, or minor works

  • Strong commercial awareness with sound contractual and legal knowledge

  • Experience managing principal contractors and subcontractors

  • Confident dealing with performance issues and commercial challenges

  • Highly numerate with strong analytical and data interrogation skills

  • Competent in standard methods of measurement and use of Schedules of Rates

  • Degree or HNC (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline

  • Professional membership (RICS / CIOB) is desirable but not essential

Working Arrangements & Benefits

  • Hybrid working model (typically 20-40% office-based)

  • Excellent pension scheme with enhanced employer contributions

  • Generous annual leave allowance plus bank holidays

  • Health cash plan, life assurance, and employee assistance programme

  • Paid volunteering leave and a range of lifestyle benefits
