Senior Building Surveyor (MRICS)
London | £50,000 - £90,000 | Flexible Working
Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking for a role where you can genuinely own your work, build real client relationships, and apply your expertise across a diverse and interesting caseload? This could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
The Role
We're looking for a confident, commercially aware Senior Building Surveyor to join our team and hit the ground running. You'll work with a high degree of autonomy, taking full responsibility for a varied portfolio of instructions - from complex construction projects through to specialist professional work.
Your day-to-day will span a broad range of disciplines, including:
- Contract Administration on larger construction and refurbishment projects
- Expert witness reports and representation
- Boundary disputes and party wall matters
- Project management across residential and commercial schemes
- Defect investigations and reports
- Licence for Alterations (LCOAs) and dilapidations
This is not a siloed role. You'll be expected and trusted to lead from the front on client-facing instructions, managing relationships with leaseholders, freeholders, and property managers directly.
About You
You're MRICS qualified and bring substantial post-qualification experience from a private practice or consultancy background. You're comfortable working independently, making decisions, and taking ownership ,you don't need hand-holding, and you'd rather have the freedom to get on with it.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong construction knowledge and a thorough understanding of building pathology
- Proven experience as a Contract Administrator on significant projects
- Confidence handling professional work including party wall, expert witness and dispute matters
- A track record of working directly with clients in a consultancy or private practice setting
- The ability to manage your own caseload efficiently and professionally
Candidates with a background primarily in local authority roles may find this position less suitable, given the client-facing and construction-focused nature of the work.
What We Offer
- Salary: £50,000 - £90,000 depending on experience
- Flexible working arrangements
- A genuinely varied and stimulating caseload
- Real autonomy and the ability to make your mark
- A collaborative, professional environment where your expertise is valued
