Consultant: Will Kirby
Role: District Manager
Client: Lee Baron
Location: London
Salary: £71k

Who is the company?

Lee Baron are a managing agent who have a great reputation in the management of new build, large and complex, mixed-use developments. Some of the schemes Lee Baron have under management can be as large as 1200 units plus retail or more - normally located in London.

What was the situation?

Lee Baron’s District Manager at one of their flagship developments was promoted to Associate Director, so it was essential for the company to find a new District Manager that had experience in managing large and complex, mixed-use developments.

Were there any challenges?

The timeframe given proposed a challenge for Will as Lee Baron needed someone who could start quickly, and many topflight candidates were bound to a 3-month notice period. Additionally, this was a role that required specialist skills which only 0.5% of the London talent pool currently possess. Fortunately, Will was still able to find the right candidate for the role despite the lack of potential candidates available.

What was the methodology?

Will’s first step to filling the role successfully was mapping and planning. Will mapped out sites on a similar scale with similar teams. He then found the Estate Managers that managed them and approached around 30. Out of the 30, Will interviewed 6, put 4 forward for an interview and 1 candidate was successfully placed with only a one month notice period to serve.

What was the outcome?

The outcome of this was the existing District Manager was able to step into his new position as Associate Director and offer the new District Manager a thorough handover giving the new starter the best onboarding process set up to succeed.

Richard Lewis, Associate Director - Lee Barren

Will works very hard to understand the requirements of the role that is available so that he can find us suitable candidates for the position. You get the sense that he knows the skills that the people he presents have and we appreciate the way that he works to find the right people to fit in to the team.
