What was the situation?

Will’s client was a residential developer who currently do all of their block management in-house. They required an experienced Property Manager to join them, due to their growth in portfolio and a recent new site opening in Slough.

Were there any challenges?

In times where working from home is more prevalent, Will found it a challenge to find someone who was content with travelling across London, working prominently outside of the city.

Additionally, with so many vacancies in the current market, candidates are in short supply and have several competitive options. This made the search more challenging, meaning Will had to work hard to identify suitable candidates.

What was the methodology?

Will ran a retained search, utilising the Data and Research team at deverellsmith, who identified every managing agency within half an hour of Stanmore.

Step 2 involved identifying all the Property Managers working for those managing agents. Step 3 was then approaching these Property Managers and filtering those who are not interested in the role and those who were not the right fit for the position.

Finally, Will conducted competency-based interviews against the criteria agreed upon with the client. The top candidates from those interviews were then shortlisted down to 20 seemed a great fit. 

Will then presented his feedback to the client and suggested the top 5 for the client to conduct their own interviews with and propose an offer to their favourite candidate.

What was the outcome?

The candidate that was offered the role to was managing a large Barrat development in North London and was living within just 20 minutes of the office. They were a fabulous fit for the role and will be starting in May.
