Accounts assistants play a crucial role providing administrative support to the accounts team. Your working hours will tend to be 9 to 6 and you will report to the senior management within the accounts team.

The typical duties within an accounts assistant job include filing, typing, managing petty cash, basic booking, credit control and ensuring debtors are paid in time. You will work with spreadsheets and Microsoft office and quite often a accountancy system such as Sage.

At entry level, to be suitable for an accounts assistant job, experience is more important than qualifications, having basic bookkeeping skills, knowledge of how the accounting process works and proven computer skills will increase your chances of being hired in an accounts assistant role
