About the opportunity
A well-respected and expanding UK estate management group - with over 200 people across its estate management, facilities management and legal divisions - is looking to appoint a Service Charge Manager. Operating from offices in Cambridge, London, Bracknell and Nottingham, with a particular need for Manchester-based leadership, the group manages large residential developments and prides itself on a genuine commitment to excellence and client service.
What makes the role exceptional
This is a senior leadership appointment within the client accounting function. You will take strategic responsibility for service charge accounting across a substantial portfolio, while leading, developing and supporting the wider accounting team. With close collaboration with Estate Managers, external accountants and clients, the role is well-suited to someone who combines technical depth with the ability to build relationships and drive standards across a team.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the service charge accounting function across a significant residential portfolio
- Oversee phased development accounting, void calculations and quarterly reporting
- Ensure accuracy of budgets, billing and end-of-year accounts across the portfolio
- Manage monthly bank reconciliations and financial health monitoring for client estates
- Produce and review quarterly management reports for clients and estate managers
- Support, mentor and develop junior and senior members of the accounts team
- Maintain compliance with company policies and deliver consistently to agreed standards
- Act as escalation point for complex leaseholder and client queries
Requirements
- Proven management experience within a service charge or property accounting environment
- Demonstrable expertise in phased developments, void calculations and quarterly reporting - non-negotiable
- Property sector accounting experience is essential
- Part-qualified or qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA
- Able to commute to the Manchester office (or other listed locations by agreement)
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with Qube software is advantageous
