We're partnering with a leading student accommodation provider to recruit an ambitious and people-focused Assistant General Manager for a large, fast-paced site in Ipswich.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, and has a passion for delivering exceptional resident experiences. We're looking for a customer focused individual who can support operational performance while helping to maintain a safe, compliant, and well-managed living environment for residents.

The Role

Working closely with the General Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of a busy student accommodation site, helping to drive operational excellence, team performance, customer satisfaction, and facilities standards across the building.

This is a varied role combining customer service, team leadership, operational management, and facilities coordination.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the smooth day-to-day operation of the site, ensuring high presentation and operational standards throughout the building
  • Leading and motivating the on-site team to deliver outstanding customer service
  • Supporting a proactive, sales-driven culture through resident engagement, events, and on-site initiatives
  • Supporting the management of planned and reactive maintenance works across the property
  • Coordinating contractors and ensuring all works are completed safely, professionally, and in line with compliance requirements
  • Assisting with Health & Safety processes, statutory compliance checks, risk assessments, and site inspections
  • Monitoring building issues and working closely with maintenance teams to ensure timely resolution
  • Ensuring accurate completion of systems, reporting, and administrative tasks
  • Coaching and developing team members through regular feedback and support
  • Managing bookings, room allocations, purchase orders, invoices, and aged debt
  • Handling resident queries and complaints confidently and professionally
  • Supporting delivery against key site KPIs including rebookings, resident satisfaction, PPM completion, compliance targets, and debt control

What You'll Need

  • Experience within student accomodation, hospitality, residential, facilities management, leisure, or a similar customer-focused environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence dealing with customers face-to-face
  • An understanding of Health & Safety and compliance responsibilities within a residential or operational setting
  • Health & Safety qualifications or knowledge (IOSH or similar) desirable
  • Experience managing maintenance schedules, contractors, or building-related issues desirable

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm (with flexibility required during peak student check-in/check-out periods)
