We're not looking for someone good. We're looking for someone exceptional.
Credit control is often treated as a back-office function. We don't see it that way. Done well, it's the discipline that protects cash flow, builds tenant relationships, and gives a property business the financial confidence to grow. We're hiring someone who treats it with that level of seriousness.
This role is fully remote. We don't care where in the country you work from, what hours suit your life, or whether you prefer a home office or a kitchen table. We care that the arrears ledger is tighter at the end of each month than it was at the start, that tenants and landlords feel they've been dealt with fairly and professionally, and that the people around you trust your numbers without having to double-check them.
What you'll be doing
You'll own the full credit control cycle across a portfolio of residential and commercial properties - chasing rent arrears, service charge balances, and ground rent collections. You'll build payment plans that actually get paid, escalate to legal action when it's genuinely the right call (and push back when it isn't), reconcile complex tenant accounts, and produce the kind of aged debt reporting that gives leadership a clear view of where the risks are. You'll work closely with property managers, lettings teams, and our finance function, and you'll be the person tenants speak to when conversations are difficult.
What "exceptional" actually means here
Plenty of people can send a reminder letter. We need someone who can read a situation - who knows when a firm deadline will resolve things and when a five-minute phone call will recover six months of arrears that solicitors couldn't touch. Someone who is genuinely comfortable with difficult conversations and doesn't either flinch from them or enjoy them too much. Someone who can hold fifty open cases in their head and still notice the one that doesn't add up.
Concretely, we'd expect you to bring solid experience in property credit control (residential, commercial, or block management), working knowledge of Section 8 and Section 21 processes, comfort with property management systems such as Qube, Yardi, Re-Leased, or similar, and the kind of Excel skills that mean reconciliations take minutes rather than afternoons. A relevant qualification (CICM, AAT, or equivalent) is welcome but evidence of how you actually operate matters more.
Remote work rewards self-direction. If you need someone watching over your shoulder to do your best work, this isn't the role. If you've thrived remotely before and can show it, we want to hear from you.
What we offer
A competitive salary that reflects the seniority we're asking for, genuine autonomy over how you structure your day, a small and capable finance team that won't waste your time, and a business that treats credit control as a craft rather than an afterthought.
How to apply
Send a CV and a short note - three or four paragraphs is plenty - telling us about a piece of debt you recovered that you're proud of, and why. We read every application properly. Generic cover letters tend to stand out for the wrong reasons.
