The Role

As Technical Manager, you will lead the technical delivery of multiple residential developments from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring projects are coordinated effectively, commercially viable, and delivered in line with programme requirements.

Working closely with consultants, contractors, and internal departments, you will drive design quality, buildability, and technical performance across a diverse portfolio of developments.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all technical aspects of residential developments from land acquisition through to project completion
Lead design development and coordinate the progression of planning, building regulations, and statutory approvals
Appoint, manage, and coordinate external consultants and design teams
Ensure developments are designed with a strong focus on buildability, programme, and cost efficiency
Act as the key interface between technical, commercial, planning, and construction teams
Coordinate the timely production and issue of construction information
Support site teams throughout the build process and resolve technical issues as they arise
Monitor design programmes and ensure project milestones are achieved
Drive technical excellence and continuous improvement across projects

Project Portfolio

You will be involved in a substantial and varied development pipeline, including:

Large-scale housing and apartment-led schemes
Multi-phase residential developments across the Midlands
Over 700 units currently under construction or progressing through planning
A strong pipeline of future projects secured through strategic land acquisitions

About You

We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded technical professional who enjoys taking ownership of projects and thrives within a fast-paced development environment. Must be based in the West Midlands and happy to work in the office or on site.

Experience

Proven experience as a Technical Manager, Senior Technical Coordinator, or similar role within residential development
Experience delivering housing and/or apartment developments
Background working for a residential developer, consultancy, or main contractor
Strong understanding of residential design, construction methods, and technical regulations
