Are you a hands-on, practical person who takes pride in keeping things running smoothly?
We're looking for a Maintenance Operative to join a fantastic student accommodation property in Cambridge. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are quite the same - from carrying out repairs and routine checks to helping create a safe, welcoming environment for residents.
You'll be an important part of the onsite team and have the opportunity to take real ownership of the building, while joining a company that offers a great culture, excellent benefits and plenty of opportunity to develop your career.
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 08:30-16:30 or 09:00-17:00.
What you'll be doing
- Carrying out routine building and safety checks, including plant rooms, fire exits, fire panels and emergency lighting.
- Completing a mix of planned and reactive maintenance, including plumbing, electrics, carpentry and general repairs.
- Keeping service and maintenance areas clean, secure and compliant with health & safety requirements.
- Supervising contractors onsite and ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standard.
- Carrying out important compliance checks, including water testing and equipment monitoring.
- Supporting student move-ins, move-outs and seasonal changeovers, helping everything run smoothly for residents.
- Spotting potential issues before they become problems and taking a proactive approach to maintaining the property.
What we're looking for
You don't necessarily need to be an expert in every trade. We're looking for someone who is practical, proactive and confident getting stuck in.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous maintenance or facilities experience, with skills across areas such as plumbing, electrics, carpentry or general building maintenance.
- A professional, friendly and approachable manner.
- A strong customer focus and pride in delivering a great resident experience.
- Good organisation and problem-solving skills.
- The confidence to work independently, manage priorities and use your initiative.
- Trade qualifications and/or experience with planned preventative maintenance would be a bonus.
What's in it for you?
Alongside joining an amazing company with a genuinely great culture, you'll receive:
- £26,734 salary per annum + bonus opportunity
- 25 days annual leave
- Employee referral bonus scheme
- Pension
- Excellent training and development opportunities
- Plenty of opportunity to progress and grow your career
- A supportive team and positive working environment
- Monday-Friday working hours
If you're looking for a varied maintenance role where you can take ownership, develop your skills and make a genuine difference to the day-to-day experience of residents, we'd love to hear from you.
