Community Host
Location: Cambridge
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday-Saturday shift pattern
The Opportunity
Are you a natural people person who takes pride in creating exceptional experiences?
We're looking for a Community Host to become the welcoming face of a vibrant residential community in Cambridge. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in hospitality, residential property, customer service, front of house or a similar people-focused environment who enjoys being at the heart of a busy community.
As Community Host, you'll be one of the most visible and important members of the on-site team. You'll be the person residents know they can turn to, the friendly face welcoming new residents into their homes, and the first point of contact for visitors and prospective residents.
It's a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll combine outstanding customer service with community engagement, front-of-house operations, property support and leasing activity.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who genuinely cares about people and takes ownership. Someone who doesn't simply pass an issue on, but sees it through to a successful resolution.
What You'll Be Doing
Creating an Exceptional Resident Experience
- Be the first point of contact for residents, visitors, contractors and guests, providing a warm, professional and welcoming experience.
- Manage the front desk, telephone and site inbox, responding to enquiries quickly and effectively.
- Take ownership of resident queries, concerns and complaints, keeping people updated and ensuring issues are resolved.
- Manage visitor and contractor access, keys and fobs in line with site procedures.
- Oversee deliveries and parcel management.
Supporting the Resident Journey
- Help deliver a seamless move-in experience, ensuring homes, keys, access and welcome packs are ready for new residents.
- Make new residents feel genuinely welcomed and confident from day one.
- Support move-outs and help ensure residents leave with a positive final impression.
Supporting Leasing & New Residents
- Be a friendly and knowledgeable first point of contact for prospective residents.
- Respond to enquiries via phone, email and the property management system.
- Arrange and conduct property viewings, creating an engaging experience that reflects the quality of the community.
- Support the leasing process by following up enquiries and viewings promptly.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure resident and prospect information is kept up to date.
- Support Right to Rent checks and relevant documentation in line with company procedures.
Building Community
- Help bring the community to life through events, activities and resident engagement.
- Support the planning, set-up and hosting of community events.
- Encourage residents to get involved and help support resident-led initiatives.
- Manage amenity bookings and ensure shared spaces are presented beautifully and ready for residents to enjoy.
Keeping the Community Running Smoothly
- Carry out regular checks of communal areas, amenities and front-of-house spaces.
- Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness and safety.
- Monitor building systems, CCTV and alarms during shifts and escalate issues appropriately.
- Log maintenance issues, liaise with contractors and follow problems through to completion.
- Assist with practical, day-to-day tasks and unexpected issues when required.
- Follow Health & Safety procedures and ensure incidents are recorded correctly.
- Provide clear shift handovers to ensure a consistent experience for residents.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in meeting people who are naturally welcoming, highly organised and genuinely passionate about customer experience.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in a customer-facing, front-of-house, hospitality, residential or service-led role.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to interact with a wide range of people.
- A highly organised approach and strong attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the customer.
- A proactive, hands-on attitude and the confidence to work independently.
- A strong sense of ownership - you'll be someone who sees things through rather than simply passing them on.
- A genuine interest in hospitality, community and creating great resident experiences.
- Confidence using everyday IT systems, including email, Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Experience with property viewings, leasing, sales, events or community programmes would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
Why This Role?
This is more than a traditional front-of-house position.
You'll have the opportunity to become a key part of a community, building relationships with residents, helping create memorable experiences and playing a genuine role in how people experience their home.
You'll be joining a friendly, down-to-earth team that believes renting should feel easy, welcoming and well looked after. The environment is fast-moving and varied, so it's ideal for someone who enjoys being busy, meeting people and making a visible difference every day.
