Quantity Surveyor 6 month contract

Objective/Purpose
Management of contracts with stakeholders and partners, completion of Cost Reporting (CVR), subcontract procurement and contract management to support the future progression of the company.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Client Contract Administration - providing supporting information to facilitate build contracts, ensuring contracts are correct and risk is managed
  • Ensuring Joint Venture partners are kept informed of project progress
  • Maintaining positive and successful client relationships
  • Ensuring all funding conditions precedent are fulfilled
  • Reviewing Planning/S106 requirements and assessing financial implications
  • Financial modelling of cost and revenue streams to determine funding requirements of each development
  • Valuation of works, pricing variations/extras and liaison with the employer's agent
  • Subcontract Procurement - preparing, reviewing and presenting subcontractor recommendations to the Head of Commercial
  • Preparing subcontractor administration and PQQ compliance using sustainable procurement policies; agreeing articles of agreement
  • Resolving contractual disputes and legal matters in a timely manner for assigned projects
  • Implementing ethical subcontract administration practice and driving continuous quality and efficiency improvement
  • Producing project cost reports and presenting to the Senior Management team at monthly cost report meetings, with accuracy, transparency and confidence

Principal Responsibilities

  • Attending pre-construction to operations project handover meetings
  • Providing continuous feedback to pre-construction on current market rates to inform land bids
  • Supporting implementation of Health & Safety policy for the department and supply chain
  • Completing design, specification and value engineering reviews
  • Supporting value engineering or negotiation exercises where required
  • Pricing client extras as required by the sales team
  • Factory liaison - quantifying component parts and understanding factory input/output demands
  • Forecasting the value of any changes and reporting on these
  • Identifying new systems or processes to improve efficiency within the Buying department
  • Scheduling of materials and liaison with in-house and external timber frame designers

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience of proprietary cost systems such as COINS
  • Experience within a developer or main contractor
  • Relevant educational background in construction
  • Solid product and build experience and knowledge
  • Awareness of relevant codes of practice, including JCT contracts, Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE and sustainability targets
  • HNC in construction or degree required
