Project Director - Mixed-Use Investor
Deverellsmith have been retained by Vastint UK to appoint a Project Director to lead the continued development and delivery of Sugar House Island, a major 26-acre mixed-use regeneration scheme in Stratford, East London.
Vastint is a purpose-led, long-term real estate investor and developer with a strong track record across residential, commercial and mixed-use development. With a considered approach to its investments, Vastint takes responsibility across the full development lifecycle, from masterplanning and planning through to delivery and long-term asset management.
Sugar House Island is a significant mixed-use masterplan currently comprising approximately 1,200 residential apartments, 624,000 sq ft of commercial space, 40,000 sq ft of retail, a school, hotel and 3 acres of public realm. Significant elements of the scheme have already been delivered, with further residential development currently under construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of multiple mixed-use phases across the Sugar House Island masterplan.
- Shape masterplanning and development strategy, ensuring future phases respond to market conditions and commercial objectives.
- Lead negotiations with local authorities and key stakeholders around planning consents, Section 106 agreements and planning obligations.
- Analyse target markets and advise on product mix and development strategy across residential, commercial and other uses.
- Prepare, manage and update complex, multi-phase development appraisals, assessing viability, costs, revenues, returns and sensitivities.
- Lead projects through design, planning, procurement, construction and handover.
- Manage development programmes, budgets, risks and commercial performance.
- Lead internal and external project teams, consultants and contractors.
- Act as a senior client representative throughout the development lifecycle.
- Report project progress, commercial performance and key risks to senior leadership.
About You
You will be a Project Director / Development Director with a proven track record delivering large-scale mixed-use regeneration schemes.
You will have strong experience in:
- Masterplanning and large-scale regeneration
- Securing and negotiating planning consents and Section 106 agreements
- Development strategy and target market analysis
- Building and managing multi-phase development appraisals
- Commercial viability and development risk
- Leading complex projects through the full development lifecycle
- Managing senior stakeholders, consultants, local authorities and delivery partners
