Management Accountant (Qualified)
Location: London (office-based)
Reports to: Financial Controller
Job type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000
About us
We're a fast-growing UK residential property business focused on creating homes and neighbourhoods that work for real people. We're backed by one of Europe's largest residential property specialists, which gives us real scale and expertise, but we move with the pace and freedom of a much smaller business.
We're building as we go. Not everything is in place yet, and that's exactly what makes this an exciting time to join. We're looking for people who are curious, driven, set high standards and want to help shape the culture and the way we work.
The role
We're looking for a proactive and highly organised qualified Management Accountant to join our growing UK finance team in London.
This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to be close to the numbers and close to the business. You'll work across the full finance cycle for multiple entities, from ledgers and reconciliations through to management accounts, statutory reporting and lender packs. You'll also partner with operating teams, explaining what the numbers mean and helping them make better decisions. As the function grows, you'll help shape how it works.
What you'll do
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts for multiple entities and groups, including consolidations
- Prepare annual statutory accounts and support the year-end audit
- Post journals, accruals and prepayments, and carry out balance sheet, inter company and bank reconciliations
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, cash flow forecasts and variance analysis for management, boards, lenders and investors
- Provide insight into portfolio performance, highlighting key trends, risks and opportunities
- Support lender compliance reporting, covenant calculations and investor reporting packs
- Review supplier invoices, verify new suppliers (including CIS status) and prepare payments in line with approval policies
- Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns and prepare information packs for tax advisors
- Manage finance mailboxes, prepare board minutes and resolutions, and support internal audit reviews
- Help develop and improve finance systems, processes, controls and reporting
What we're looking for
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience in a similar role within property, real estate investment or asset management
- Strong understanding of UK GAAP
- Experience preparing management accounts and financial statements
- Confident with accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
- Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset
How you'll work
- Hands-on and self-motivated, taking real ownership of your work from start to finish
- Curious about the story behind the numbers and able to explain it clearly to non-finance colleagues
- Dependable when juggling competing deadlines across multiple entities
- Constructively challenging, quick to spot where a process could be simpler or a control tighter
- Commercially minded, calm under pressure and pragmatic
