Finance Assistant
East London (Hybrid) | £27,000 - £30,000

deverellsmith is partnering with a long-established, multi-service property consultancy to recruit a Finance Assistant for its East London head office.

The firm advises landlords and occupiers across valuation, commercial agency, and asset and property management, and has a strong regional presence across London and the South East. This is a hands-on role in a small in-house finance team. You'll handle the firm's day-to-day transactional finance and get broad exposure to how a professional services business runs its numbers.

What you'll be doing

• Processing supplier invoices, coding them to the correct cost centre and VAT treatment, and getting them approved
• Preparing weekly supplier payment runs and reconciling supplier statements
• Processing staff expense claims against company policy
• Raising fee invoices on instruction from surveyors and service teams
• Posting and allocating receipts, and chasing overdue fees in line with credit control procedures
• Producing aged debt reports and helping with bank reconciliations and month-end
• Dealing with finance queries from colleagues across the firm's offices

What we're looking for

• Experience in a purchase ledger, sales ledger or general finance assistant role
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to high-volume work
• Confidence chasing payments and dealing with colleagues at all levels
• Good Excel skills and experience with accounting software
• An interest in property or professional services is a plus, but not essential
