Credit Controller (12-month fixed term contract)
Central London | Hybrid
£35,000 plus discretionary bonus
A residential real estate investor with portfolios in several major European cities is looking for a Credit Controller to join its London office on a 12-month fixed term contract (FTC). The London business has grown quickly, building a sizeable portfolio of serviced apartments, private rented homes and HMOs. It's a young team based in a central office with good transport links.
You'll join a credit control team of four (two Credit Controllers, a Senior Credit Controller and the Credit Control Manager), reporting to the manager and working closely with the property managers to make sure rent comes in on time and arrears don't build up.
The role
- Collecting rent and other charges from tenants on or before the due date, working to a target of 30 calls a day and a 98 per cent collection rate
- Analysing arrears reports, spotting late payers early and flagging potential defaults to the Credit Control Manager as soon as they come up
- Reconciling tenant ledgers and keeping accurate records of every call, action and piece of correspondence
- Handling tenant queries and invoice requests, and replying to all emails and messages within two working days
- Following debt recovery procedures, issuing final letters and preparing paperwork for enforcement agents and solicitors when needed
- Working with property managers on disputes and attending arrears meetings
- Helping clear the unidentified and unallocated cash reports, plus ad hoc reporting
About you
- Previous credit control experience
- A background in a customer-facing role, on the phone or in person
- Calm and empathetic on difficult calls, with good numerical and analytical skills
- Organised and methodical, with the ability to manage your own workload against deadlines
- Happy working on your own or as part of a small team, and keen to find better ways of doing things
- Confident with IT and digital communication
What's on offer
- £35,000 salary plus discretionary bonus
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Private medical insurance
- Company pension
- Enhanced maternity and paternity pay (subject to eligibility)
- Hybrid working
