About the opportunity
A vertically integrated purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) business is looking for a qualified Finance Manager to join its growing finance function. Having started life as a small family business, it now invests in, develops and operates its own student accommodation schemes, which puts finance at the centre of decisions across every stage of an asset's life.
The role suits an accountant from PBSA, build-to-rent, co-living or student accommodation who understands how rental income, development costs and achievable rents combine to drive asset performance.
What makes the role exceptional
Because the business controls every stage, from acquisition and development through to day-to-day operations, you will see the whole picture rather than one slice of it. You will work alongside investment, development and operational teams, turning rental and cost data into insight that shapes pricing, forecasting and investment decisions.
The business has kept the closeness of its family roots, so your work will be visible to senior leadership and you will have real influence over how finance processes and reporting develop.

- Produce budgets, forecasts and cash flow analysis for operational and development assets
- Deliver variance analysis and performance insight to senior management, lenders and investors
- Support lender compliance, covenant calculations and investor reporting
- Manage the year-end audit, statutory accounts and VAT compliance
- Strengthen finance controls, systems and reporting processes
Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent); qualified by experience will not be considered
- At least five years' post-qualification experience
- Rental accounting experience within PBSA, BTR, co-living or student accommodation
- Understanding of development cost accounting and how achievable rents feed into asset performance
- Experience preparing management accounts and financial statements for multiple entities
- Strong working knowledge of UK GAAP
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence with accounting systems
- Ability to explain financial insight clearly to non-finance colleagues
Requirements for salary bandings will be discussed in the interview stages and screening calls.
