deverellsmith and SAY Property Consultants launch Rental Living Workforce Sentiment Survey

Specialist property recruitement and talent consultancy deverellsmith has teamed up with SAY Property Consultants to launch the Rental Living Workforce Sentiment Survey. The study looks at how people working in the UK rental living sector feel about their pay, their careers and the changes affecting their jobs.

The survey is open to anyone working in Build to Rent, purpose-built student accommodation, single-family housing and rented later living. That includes on-site operations, head office, asset management, consultancy and supplier roles.

The survey asks about pay rises, bonuses, progression and how likely people are to change jobs in the next 12 months. New questions this year cover the impact of renters’ reform and how prepared businesses were for it. They also ask how people feel about AI and whether employers are paying for training.

All responses are anonymous and will only be reported in summary form. The results will feed into deverellsmith’s Rental Living Salary Report, which will be published in early 2027.

Hannah Taylor, Senior Manager - Investment and Rental Living of The deverellsmith Group, said:
“Rental living depends on its people. Residents notice when a site team is settled, and they notice when it isn’t. This survey will show operators what their teams really think about pay, progression and the future, so they can make better decisions about attracting good people and keeping them.”

Caspar Courage, Managing Director of SAY Property Consultants, said:
“The sector has had a lot to deal with this year. Renters’ reform has arrived and AI is starting to change how teams work. We want to hear from the people handling that every day. The more of them who take part, the more useful the findings will be for everyone in rental living.”

The survey is open now at https://bit.ly/4BtGdiu
