A Message from our founder 2021

A Message from our founder 2021

During the Christmas season, our thoughts turn gratefully to those who have made our success possible. After living in lockdown for the first 3 months of 2021, I’m enriched with a new sense of enthusiasm as I recognise how resilient our industry is and unified the people in property have become.

Together, we’ve adapted, innovated, invested, understood, and ultimately worked as one to thrive in this future way of working.

As we gear up for 2022, we reflect on what else deverellsmith achieved in 2021 and how we aided our network:

•deverellsmith partnered with Whitechapel Mission and donated over 250 hours of volunteering time to prevent homelessness across the capital.

•Our Client Solutions team supported 25 firms evolving their hiring strategies and internal capability regarding the way they recruit, attract, and retain talent. Saving them in excess of 4 million pounds and countless amount of time.

•We supported 235 clients grow their headcount and 808 professionals with finding the next step in their career – seconding a number of our highly expert consultants ‘in-house’.

•Our Recruitment Process Outsourcing function launched to drive further innovation and evolution surrounding talent in property.

‘A New Lease of Life’, a sub-series of the #devcast… podcast, which interviews influential figures across BTR and alternative asset classes invited 15 guests into the studio.

•Our team interviewed 25 innovators, futurists, and trailblazers for #devcast… including Richard Margree, Dominic Grace and Peter Knight.

•We hosted the second and third editions of Banking on the Future in partnership with Bank of England, Project Etopia, Canary Wharf Group, Notting Hill Genesis and Taylor Wimpey which attracted over 3,000 property professionals.

•We virtually hosted the ‘Transatlantic Multifamily Debate’ which accrued over 1,000 viewers across the globe and included speakers from Portland, SAY Consulting and Cortland Property.

•deverellsmith hired 25 new employees to the deverellsmith team across the 3 pillars of our business (Transactions, Development & Construction and Management) who have a combined experience of 100+ years.

•devgives…, deverellsmith’s CSR programme, partnered with the Ben Kinsella Trust to raise awareness and over £4,000 for the charity.

•We launched an internal D&I campaign ‘We Work As One’ which reviewed policies and introduced an internal network to support and educate our team.

•And finally, we planted 2,470 trees in our Madagascan Forest in a bid to become more climate positive.

We look forward to supporting your business and teams in preparing for the future ahead, hosting more podcasts and webinars and stimulating change. It is in this spirit that we say thank you and send best wishes for the holidays and New Year.

I wish you a well-deserved, restful break over the festive season, and I look forward to working with you in achieving continued success throughout 2021 and beyond.

Kind regards,

Andrew Deverell-Smith
